In January 2016 seven years after the idea was mooted, the SUST IPE Alumni Association (SIPEAA) was born. The idea was first articulated by a group of IPEans in 2008. This group worked to set constitutions and objectives, collect members, and coordinate with the university. The first President and General Secretary of the Association was Md. Matiur Rahman (Robin) from 1st and Shafiur Rahman (Shafiq) from 2nd batch students of the University who led it for 2016~2017. The first two executive committees were selected and mainly worked to set the basement of alumni to fulfill its objectives.
In 2016 SIPEAA came to a flashlight by arranging its first election for the 3rd executive committee by a dynamic election commission led by Tapash Kumar Mojumder. The first elected President and General Secretary of the Association Md. Majharul Islam (Munna) from 3rd and Md. Anower Sawadat (Shibly) from the 7th batch refocus alumni objectives through the election manifesto. This is the first time SIPEAA EC integrated with the academic committee for developing a proper communication channel between alumni and academic activities. In refocused objectives, SIPEAA mainly worked for alumni members’ professional development, increase area of job market, national and international exposure, and financial base to support the community when required. At the same time for academic development arrange job fairs, seminars, and scholarships for running students are also focused. As a part of family members' engagement and their well-being, SIPEAA also arranges different activities to get together. Another part of the objective where alumni focus to help the mass community of our country as a part of CSR activities. At present alumni, activities run mainly from Dhaka, and the office is held at the university department but it may open branches in different cities in the future.
